The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is excited to announce the hosting of the National Pyrethrum Solar Dryer Launch and Farmers’ Field Day, at John Koske’s Farm, near Gacharage Shopping Centre, Sirikwa Ward, Kuresoi North, Nakuru County on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024. The Field Day aims to bring together pyrethrum farmers, agricultural experts, and stakeholders from across the region to celebrate advancements in pyrethrum farming and to introduce innovative solar drying technology. The Chief Guest will be Dr. Paul Ronoh, Principal Secretary, of the State Department of Agriculture.
Under the theme “Enhancing Pyrethrum Quality Through Adoption of Climate Smart Technologies for Sustainable Food & Nutrition, Security & Economic Growth,” the event will showcase the latest climate-smart agricultural practices designed to improve the quality and yield of pyrethrum.
The Farmers’ Field Day will include the distribution of sixty-four (64) modern solar dryers to the County Governments’ of West Pokot, Nakuru, Nyandarua & Bomet and interactive sessions with farmers. Farmers and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and be part of this transformative journey towards a more resilient and prosperous agricultural sector.
