Agriculture and Food Authority Board Chairperson Hon. Cornelly Serem, today presided over the International Coffee Day celebrations held at Kirinyaga County Cooperative Union Limited, Kirinyaga County.
Hon. Serem emphasized on the crucial role played by the coffee industry in Kenya’s economy and reiterated the Government’s commitment towards driving the coffee reform agenda and putting in place policies and regulations for the coffee sub-sector growth.
The world celebrates International Coffee Day every year on October 1, whose aim is to celebrate the beloved caffeine-rich beverage. Every year, International Coffee Day is observed with a theme and purpose and the theme for this year is “Coffee, Your Daily Ritual, Our Shared Journey “.
The day emphasizes sustainable and ethical farming practices while highlighting the importance of coffee farmers.
